KBS World Radio is South Korea’s official international broadcasting station.
KBS World Radio owned by the Korean Broadcasting System. Its maiden transmission was aired in a 15-minute English broadcast on August 15th, 1953, under the station name “The Voice of Free Korea”.
Currently, KBS Radio is providing a variety of accurate and up-to-date programs and news on South Korea’s economy, politics, culture, society, and traditions to the audience and netizens around the world in 11 languages: Arabic, Chinese, English, French German, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Spanish and Vietnamese.
The Radio station was renamed Radio Korea in April 1973, Radio Korea International in 1994, August and KBS World Radio in March 2005 in a bid to better reflect the station’s increasingly globalized mission.
Time & Frequency
KBS WORLD Radio airs 65 hours and 39 minutes of programming a day on mediumwave, shortwave and FM.
In addition to this, Arabic, English, and Russian programs reach listeners via satellites, with Spanish, Indonesian and Russian program available on local AM and FM. more info
